When I moved my business back to New Zealand I made the decision to specialise solely in wedding photography in the Hawke’s Bay area. I believed this was the best way to give my clients exceptional service and be the best I could be at my job. Saying that, over the slow winter months while I’m still getting set up and established I couldn’t resist a portrait session at one of the many incredible locations right on our doorstep – the legendary Te Mata Peak . With its dramatic scenery and panoramic views Te Mata Peak is also a very popular location chosen by many couples for their Hawke’s Bay wedding photographs.
While I am a wedding photographer at heart, I am also a mother. I understand how quickly time passes. How fast children grow, and how important it is to record their sweet journey through time. So it was such a privilege to have the opportunity to photograph Ryan earlier this year and document a little part of his New Zealand travels. Ryan is the eldest son of my dear friend and fellow photographer Terry Riggins. Over the years, Terry has generously and patiently taught me so much, not just about photography but about how crazy life with two boys can get!
