This gorgeous Mission Estate wedding was all about a spectacular location where friends and family could gather to celebrate and enjoy some of the incredible food, wine and stunning scenery Hawke’s Bay is famous for. With half of their guests traveling from Australia, and the other half from around New Zealand, the Groom’s hometown of Hawke’s Bay made an ideal destination. “It’s such a beautiful place we both knew that’s where we wanted to get married,” said Kirsty.
We love a mid-week wedding and were excited to learn Kirsty and Josh had picked a Tuesday in May for their Mission Estate wedding. Not only mid-week but slightly off-peak when things are a little calmer, choices of vendors and venues are better, and being Autumn – the light is just dreamy.
We also love it when couples choose to do a first look. Especially as daylight savings comes to an end and the days get shorter. Kirsty said that sharing their first moments together before the ceremony helped them relax. And having their bridal party photos earlier in the day meant they had more time to spend with their guests. Having both sides of their families together was one of the most important parts of the day for them.
While Kirsty admitted being a little nervous about the weather as the day approached, she knew she was in good hands and had chosen a venue with great wet weather options. Lucky for us it only drizzled in the morning. The afternoon was lovely. If you’re considering an autumn wedding in New Zealand but you’re concerned about the weather – please don’t be!
