Linda and Ryan were married on January 17th 2016, with a ceremony and reception at The Old Church in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. I love to look back on weddings from past seasons not only to inspire future brides but to remind myself (and my clients) just how much I love what I do!
Like many people who choose Hawkes Bay for their wedding destination, Linda and Ryan wanted a fun, relaxed day with plenty of time to mingle with friends and family who had travelled to be with them for this special celebration. They chose to see each other before the ceremony with an intimate and emotional ‘first look’ followed by some fun bridal party photos.
The next stop for the bride and groom was the stunning backdrop of Te Mata Peak with views looking out over Hawkes Bay. While we all love an epic veil shot as it catches in a gentle breeze, a sudden gust of wind saw this bride’s veil come flying right off. We all held our breath as we watched it drift higher and higher into the sky before finally floating gently down to the valley below. Linda however, barely seemed to notice – she only had eyes for her handsome husband to be and was not going to let this ruin their moment!
Like all good fairytales this one had a happy ending too, much to the delight of the crowds of tourists watching the spectacle, and full thanks due to the incredible downhill sprint by one of Linda’s friends on a successful recovery mission.
Over a year later, with time to reflect, here’s Linda’s advice for brides to be: “Don’t stress! Just enjoy the day. It should be one of your happiest days after all. You have picked good wedding professionals so you can relax and let them work their magic. Surprises will happen here and there but you are getting married and that’s the most important thing! Along with your friends and family having a blast of course!”
Linda & Ryan, it was a privilege and an honour to be part of your day and capture so many special memories. Over the last year, I have loved seeing your travel adventures pop up in my facebook feed and I wish you all the best for many more adventures ahead.
