“To my darling Queen, who I bow down to…”
Rebecca and Matt were married on the 21st January with a ceremony and reception at Te Awa Winery in Hawkes Bay.
I don’t know what I was more excited about in the lead up to this wedding – finding out I was going to finally meet “Darcy the Caravan Bar” whom I’ve been crushing on for a while now, or learning that the bride and groom were writing each others vows and would not see them until they read them out loud to each other during the ceremony. As fabulous as Darcy is, and the cocktails sure looked delicious, the reading of the vows takes first place as one of the best (and most hilarious) wedding touches I’ve had the pleasure to witness!
In fact, every little detail about this wedding was delightful and quirky. So many elements, from the lawn games to the bunting and the hand stamped guest favours were made with love by the beautiful bride. Creative styling and stunning florals from Lushka in rustic greens and whites set the scene for a day that was relaxed, laid back, casual and fun. To top it all off, Rebecca wore an exquisite flower crown befitting a queen, which is exactly what she made her husband-to-be address her as in his ceremony vows.
Rebecca and Matt, thank you so much for choosing Carmen and I to capture your wedding day. From the high-five before the first kiss to Matt’s hilarious but risqué speech your day was filled with fun and laughter. Knowing the journey you have all been on, my favourite moment was seeing the look in your Mother’s eyes when she first saw her beautiful girl in her wedding gown. I wish you and your families so many more magical moments to come in the years ahead.
